Operation tips for Wall Radar

1.Check before operation

The battery status of the through wall radar system should be checked before operation, the battery voltage will drop as the power remaining decreases, too low voltage may affect the performance of the radar system. Commanded battery remaining should be higher than 75% standard capacity.

To check the remaining power, you can press the button at the bottom of the battery and refer to the led indicator. 4 starts means fully charged; or you can get the battery status indication from the software menu when the radar is connected to the control centre.

2. Deployment

Through wall radar can penetrate walls made of non-metallic/low moisture content material including concrete/bricks/wood and glass etc.

The radar should be installed on a relatively flat wall with no obvious protrusions and ensure that there is no large area of metal behind it.

If there are no precise requirements for position detection (i.e. you only need to detect the height difference or change of the target), you can easily adjust the visual height setting using your experience. If a precise attitude detection requirement is required (i.e. the need to detect the standing, crouching, etc. posture of the target), please set the radar at a height of 1.3m±0.05m (the maximum leg size of the tripod when unfolded in two parts is approximately 1.3m). As shown in the figure, to ensure detection performance, please install the radar detection surface close to the wall and keep it horizontal and perpendicular to the ground.

For hand-held detection, the display and control unit can be attached to the main radar unit. The operator should hold the radar steady and place the radar detection surface close to the wall, keeping it horizontal and perpendicular to the ground and as still as possible.

3.  Something to note

To ensure the accuracy of detection and prevent the effects of false alarms outside the detection area, please first evaluate the detection environment and set the software setting (azimuth, distance, detection mode, installation method, etc.) appropriately.

When the radar emits electromagnetic waves, some of the electromagnetic waves are reflected back from the wall. Person moving behind the radar will echo electromagnetic waves and introduce into the system to cause the false alarm and affect the detection. We strongly recommend the operator and observation person should stay 5 metres away from the radar with the control and display device. If the space is limited, it is better to maintain the greatest visual distance to prevent the operator from affecting the detection performance and results.

For complex environments and walls, to prevent unknown metal or high density material inside the wall causing the radar wave to be hard or unable to penetrate the wall, or to prevent obstacles behind the wall that are close to the height of the radar (such as tables, etc.) causing severe radar electromagnetic wave reflection, or other factors that affect the physical characteristics of electromagnetic waves and affect the radar detection performance. It is necessary to adjust the radar detection height or position to avoid the hard position.
